CHICAGO — (August 29, 2025) – Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria invites the community to support cancer research through its 53rd Annual Cancer Research Benefit on Saturday, September 27, and various fundraising initiatives throughout September.

The annual benefit continues more than five decades of commitment that began in 1971 when Lou Malnati first organized a benefit to honor his friend who battled cancer. What started as a small gathering has grown into one of Chicago’s longest-running charitable events, raising $4 million in the last five years alone for the Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Gilda’s Club of Chicago, and Pickles Group.

Ways to Support:
Dessert to Donate Campaign (August 29 – September 30): Lou Malnati’s will donate $1 from every dessert purchased to Lou Malnati’s Cancer Research Foundation.

In-Store Donations: Guests can purchase Donation Circles at all Lou Malnati’s locations throughout September or round up their bill to the nearest dollar when checking out.

Annual Benefit Event: The 53rd Annual Lou Malnati’s Cancer Research Benefit will take place on Saturday, September 27, at The Matrix Club in Naperville. The evening will feature dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions, and raffle prizes. Event tickets must be purchased in advance, and raffle tickets and donations are also available at www.LMCB.org. Raffle winners do not need to be present to win.

Louve is in the air this month! To celebrate, we launched our ‘Will Lou Marry Me’ contest on social media in search of one lucky couple who wanted to cement Lou’s as a part of their love story. This included the proposal in the restaurant, including candles, rose petals, and a heart-shaped pizza, as well as an engagement party with their loved ones and late-night bites on their wedding day.

We received hundreds of heartfelt entries, all of which explained the significant place Lou Malnati’s holds in their relationship and love story. One, however, stood out above the rest: Mitch Rozwat. Two weeks after being told he had been selected, Mitch took his girlfriend Lisa out for dinner at their favorite pizza spot. Completely unaware of what was to come, Lisa entered a room filled with candles, rose petals, a camera crew, and of course that heart-shaped pizza. Mitch got down on one knee and asked Lisa to marry him, to which she said “Yes!”. She may have thought the surprises were over with at that point, but little did she know that there was an engagement party waiting for her upstairs. A room full of friends and family ready to celebrate an unforgettable moment for Mitch and Lisa.

As we introduced ourselves, I learned her name was Lisa. We started chatting, and I was surprised to discover we had something in common – we’re both one of six kids in our families! It was crazy to think that we shared that experience, and it sparked a fun conversation about our childhoods.

The race weekend, which is expected to draw 100,000 people from every corner of the globe, will feature a two-day racing and music festival that will highlight local Chicago cuisine, art, entertainment, and culture on a national and international scale. If you’re headed downtown this weekend for the festivities, here’s a rundown of what to expect, and of course, where you can find your Lou Malnati’s pizza fix:

Saturday, March 11th will kick off with the River Dyeing at 9am.

The best views can be found between Michigan Ave and Columbus Drive, but plan to get there early for the best spot! After you’re seeing green (in the river, that is) head to Lou Malnati’s River North for lunch. Located at 439 North Wells, it’s just about a mile away from the action.

The party continues with the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade, scheduled to start at 12pm.

The route starts at Balbo Ave and Columbus Drive, and will continue north to Monroe Street. The party doesn’t have to end with the parade, though! Lou Malnati’s South Loop is located just a few blocks from the route at 805 South State Street – a short walk when you know you’re close to eating deep dish pizza!

The exhibit, created by Kendall Bruns, founder of the U.S. Pizza Museum, gives pizza lovers a slice of the history behind their favorite food and features memorabilia, old menus, photos, and more. Let’s not forget, the history of pizza would not be complete without Lou Malnati’s! You’ll find some old school Lou’s memorabilia at the exhibit, too.

The 35th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival kicked off yesterday and will be running through Sunday, September 1. Showcased alongside national and international artists are some of Chicago’s very own talented jazz performers. In addition to the lively performances, there is also an Art Fair where you can find paintings, jewelry, photography, clothing and much more.

If you haven’t had the chance to head down to Navy Pier to see the fireworks, this weekend is your last chance! Saturday’s fireworks show will be the Pier’s last until Halloween. Head down early to take a stroll along the Pier and stop in some of the shops before staking out your spot. The show can also be viewed from other beaches along Lake Shore Drive.

Remix Chicago (formerly known as Ravenswood Remix) is headed to Logan Square this weekend and bringing “all things remixed, reused and recycled.” Located on Milwaukee Ave between Fullerton and California, Remix Chicago will offer an array of re-purposed arts and crafts, food vendors, activities for kids, informative workshops, and live music. The event will run from 12pm to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday.

If you’re headed out of town this weekend, you’ll join the more than 34 million Americans who are hitting the road for the last vacation of summer. No matter what you have planned, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!
